"Hansard" containing reports of the Meetings of the Legislative

Council held on the 19th. October and on the 9th. November when

the Estimates were considered. On the first of those dates I

introduced the Budget with an explanation of the financial

position of the Colony and of the more important increases and

decreases in Revenue and Expenditure. On the 9th. lfovember the

proposals of the Government were criticised in speeches by two

of the Unofficial Members of Council to which the Colonial

Treasurer, the Director of Public Works, the Captain

Superintendent of Police and I myself replied. The Appropria-

-tion Bill was then read a second and third time and passed.

-ing the Estimates for this year Sir Henry May anticipated that

the balance of Assets over Liabilities on 31st. December, 1910,

would amount to 1,304,758. This estimate was more than realis-

-od, the sum actually brought to account being 1,406,925.

According to the revised figures for 1911 ordinary and extra-

-ordinary Revenue is expected to exceed the sum estimated by

$122,871
