Only four cases under the Ordinance have been tried during the 12 months ending 16th. September, 1911, viz.:- (a). Case against Lam Yat lui, clerk, Commercial Union Insurance Company - the complainant being Ng Lin, carpenter. The case was tried before Mr. Hallifax who fined the defendant $100 or 3 months' hard labour. I have seen Mr. Hallifax on this matter He informs me that in his opinion it was not a case in which damages should have been awarded. The case was decided on the 3rd. November, 1910.

(b). Case against Kung Shek, farmer of a Tau Kok, the Complainant being Liu Fat, carpenter, Nga Iu Tau village. The defendant was discharged on his entering into a personal recog- -nizance in the sum of $50 to come up for judgment when called upon. Er. J. R. Wood was the presiding lagistrate and the case was decided on the 28th. February, 1911.

(c). Case against Cheung Lun Kiu, farmer, residing at the Kwong To On Boarding House, 90, Connaught Road Central, the complainant being Yun Tam Kiu, farmer. No evidence was offered on behalf of the prosecution and he was discharged. Mr. J. R. Wood was the presiding lagistrate and the case was decided on the 9th. Lay, 1911.

(d). Case against Lau Shek Po aged 45, farmer, Lau Tsun village, the complainant being Liu Sham, farmer of Muk Kung Hon village. I tried this case and fined the defendant $25 or 1

month's hard labour. The case was not serious. The wife ran away

on the 6th. May, 1911, and returned in 2 or 3 days. She again ran away on the 10th. May and was arrested on the 12th. May at Fan Ling Station. The husband admitted that he struck his wife. In my opinion it was not a case in which damages should be

awarded. The case was decided on the lbth. May, 1911.
