Formerly the Sisters and Wardmasters obtain
free light and fuel, but for some reason the privilege has not been granted the Sisters more recently appointed, though still éranted to the Wardmasters. We find that the Sisters in Singapore have this allowance, and we respectfully request that the matter may be reconsidered with a view to granting it again to Sisters on sterling salaries.

At the end of the term of our initial agree- -ment, if we do not join the permanent staff we are compelled to immediately seek another appointment without having any holiday unless we are fortunate enough to have homes to go to, and as the exigencies of the service rarely permit of our taking the local leave mentioned in our agreement, it seems to us only fair that we should obtain the full pay leave which has been allowed to lapse, or a bonus in lieu of it. It is obvious that after a few years absence from England there is great difficulty in getting in touch with one's previous connections and consequent- -ly we run a risk of being sometime without an appointment.
