I may add that in September, 1903, Mr.

Law was reprimanded and warned that if he was again reported

for any serious dereliction of duty he would be most severely

dealt with. Moreover, in March, 1909, Mr. Law's conduct formed

the subject of an enquiry by a Committee of Executive Council

as the result of which the Executive Council advised that he

should be reprimanded. I enclose a copy of the correspondence

with reference to this case.

I have suspended Mr. Law from the

exercise of his office with effect from the 8th. instant. The

vacancy so caused will be filled up by a local appointment in

the usual way.
