I recently received the following
telegram from H.E. the Viceroy and Governor General
in India. "Your Excellency is doubtless aware that
"His Majesty proposes to hold an Imperial Durbar
"at Delhi on the 12th December next. I have much
"pleasure in inviting yourself and Lady Lugard with
"two members of your staff as guests of the Government
of India. Plosse telegraph whether you accept invi-
"tation. In the event of your coming it is desirable
that you should reach Delhi which is two days distant
"by rail from Bombay by the 4th December. Government
"of India will be responsible for your entertainment
"at Delhi from the 4th to 17th December. I telegraphed
on June 20th asking your permission to accept this
invitation and received your sanction to do so.

The Chinese Community in this
Colony, not content with the wonderful decorative
display on June 22nd to which they subscribed most
liberally and regarding which I am addressing you
in a separate despatch, have decided to shew their
loyalty and testify their earnest wishes for the
long life and prosperity of His Gracious Majesty
the King
O THE
RIGHT HONOURABLE
