Maritime and Sanitary Regulations.

CArt. 7.

The steamers will be allowed to load and discharge at the

same time whenever there is an empty warehouse, always subject to the rules which the Custom House may dictate for the purpose of securing the

fiscal interests in these operations. They likewise will be allowed to load and discharge at night and on holidays that are not national, pro- vided they comply with each and every one of the requisites set forth in

Art. 93 of the General Customs Ordinances, as amended by the decree of the 12th of November, 1898, as well as the Rulings that the Treasury Department may issue in accordance with the provisions of Paragraph 8, Sub-Clause I II of the above mentioned Art. 93 of the Ordinances.

Art. 8. Whenever any packages are landed under a fully proved error, the Company will be allowed to reship them without being liable to any penalty whatever. In the event of one or more packages being short as set forth in the Manifests, without the correction being presented which is permitted under Paragraph 2 of Art. 26 of the General Customs Ordi- nances, as amended by decree of the 12th of November, 1898, the Company will be allowed a term not exceeding six months within which to land them by another steamer, without its being liable during such term to any fine whatever; but on the understanding that this concession only applies to the packages that through some error have been landed in the Mexican ports of call, and not to those that have not been shipped in the ports of departure, or that have been landed in some other foreign port, and also that when such package is re-shipped in the Mexican port in which it has been landed by mistake, it will be covered by a certi- ficate issued by the respective Custom House, as provided in Art. 99

of the General Ordinances.

Art. 9.

The Company will be allowed to make arrangements with the Steamship Lines already established or that may hereafter be established on the Pacific, for the purpose of carrying on a direct interoceanic traffic, always subject to the regulations that govern the exportation

and transit or coastwise traffic, as the case may be.
