If, however, the Government do repudiate any claim to compensation in respect of Shanghai Street houses then stops must be taken to have such claims recognised either by an amendment of the Ordinance or otherwise and the present sending in of the claims will either be confined to sections fronting on Reclamation Street or the whole sending in will be deferred.

With reference to paragraph 5 of our letter of the 8th. September as at present advised our clients are making no claim in respect of the dumping referred to therein.
With reference to paragraph 6 of such letter the claim for alterations of level in the past, have been made out but it has been thought more convenient that they should not be mixed up with the claims in respect of the work authorised by the Ordinance and we are sending them by a separate letter.
