in 5 Manslaughter cases, while 53 gang robberies were reported

as against 36 in 1909, and in 34 of these 53 cases no arrests

were made and in 7 of the remaining 19 cases no conviction was

obtained. There were 25 highway robberies against 17 in 1909

robberies at Lea with only one conviction, and 22 piracies against 9 in 1909

with only two convictions. Thus in these five most serious

classes of crime convictions have only been obtained in 20 out

of 124 cases viz.:- 16.1 per centum. The following tabular
