Principal Warder McLeod states:-
I visited D Hall at 1.40 p.m. this day. I saw Prisoner No. 517 working all correct. I visited D Hall again at 2.40 p.m. for the purpose of having the dry earth boxes refilled: not seeing No. 517 I looked around and saw that the window at the West end of the Hall had been tampered
with.

Chief Warder Pierpoint states:-
Guard Tehel Singh was on Inner Gate duty from 12 noon to 12.30 p.m. and from 1.30 to 3.00 p.m. this day. I visited Guard Tehel Singh at 2.00 p.m. this day when he reported one prisoner (No. 517) as all correct.
Assistant Warder Lal Khan states:-
I relieved Guard Tehel Singh from 12.30 to 1.30 p.m. this day. On his return to duty at 1.30 p.m. I handed over one prisoner (No. 517) and reported "all correct". No question.
Defence:- I did not see No. 517 after I returned from
tiffin. I reported one prisoner all correct tc the Chief Warder about 2.00 p.m.
Finding:- Guilty.
Recommended for dismissal.
