In addition to the above, there are a number
of trees which would be interfered with by the carrying out of the
scheme. The Superintendent, Botanical and Forestry Department,
should be consulted with reference to this.
The area of the extension is approximately
4,557 square feet and its value, based upon the rates at which the
University site was valued, namely 20 cents per square foot and
$250 per acre, is:-

The expense involved in making the ground
available is however so great (about 75 cents per square foot) that
the premium might be waived in this case, having regard to the object for which the land is desired. Crown Rent should however be imposed.
I submit that Archdeacon Barnett be informed
that, subject to the proposal involving no interference with the arrangements connected with the laying out of the University site and to the approval of the Secretary of State being obtained, the Government are prepared to grant his application on the following
terms:-
(1). The entire cost of all the operations involved in
diverting Bonham Road so as to render the area
available to be borne by the Church Missionary
Society. Such operations to be carried out by the
Public Works Department and the various Companies
concerned. All accounts for such operations to be
paid by the Church Missionary Society within 7 days of the presentation of certificates signed by or on
behalf of the Director of Public Works.
(2). Crown Rent at the rate of $250 per acre to be paid
for the area, commencing from the date on which the final approval of the proposal is communicated to
the Society.
(3). The lease of Inland Lot 754 to be surrendered and
