With reference to paragraph 5 of
Lord Crewe's Despatch No. 186 of the 1st. July, 1910, approv-
-ing the appointment of Mr. R. 0. Hutchison, First Assistant
Registrar-General, to be Superintendent of Imports and Ex-
-ports, I have the honour to state that Mr. Hutchison is
expected to return to Hongkong from leave of absence on the
4th. of next July, and that, as from the date of his return,
he will assume his new duties. It is, therefore, necessary to
select an Officer to fill the post of First Assistant
Registrar-General which will then vacate.
2.
The Officer best qualified to fill
the vacancy is Mr. A. E. Wood, Passed Cadet, who has already
had experience of work in the Registrar-General's Office. Hr.
Wood's record of service is given on page 339 of the Hongkong
Civil Service List (1911 Edition). He is a good Chinese
