With reference to Sir M. Nathan's

Despatch No. 230 of the 29th. September, 1905, I have the

honour to forward the enclosed copy of a letter, dated the

9th. instant, from Mr. D. Wood, Superintendent of Accounts,

Correspondence and Stores in the Public Works Department,

together with a covering minute by the Director of Public

Works, dated the 9th. instant. Mr. Wood did not renew his

application in view of the statement in Mr. Lyttelton's

.38993. Despatch No. 236 of the 8th. December, 1905, "that his

application for transfer will continue to receive consider-
