I have the honour to confirm my
telegram of the 2nd. instant which was as follows:-
Support strongly protest made by Hongkong
Chamber of Commerce conveyed to Foreign Office
by telegram from Hewett 1st. February against increase by $200 per chest Canton Opium Tax. Urge strongly that steps should be taken to sequre entire removal of Tax.
I enclose a copy of Mr. Hewett's telegram of the 1st.
