I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your
letter (No. 1684/10) dated October the 27th. last, offering me
the post of Assistant Superintendent of the Batanical and
Forestry Department in Hongkong.
Whilst I fully appreciate the offer, I
must, for reasons which it is unnecessary to relate, decline
the honour. To this effect I telegraphed you yesterday (Novem➡
-ber 25th.) immediately on receipt of your letter.
