Government House

4th. January, 1911.

With reference to Lord Creve's

Despatch No. 182 of the 30th. June, 1910, I have the

honour to state that as a result of the recent discussion

which I had with Mr. Stubbs I propose that a non-pension-

-able allowance of £50 per annum should be paid to the

Officer actually performing the duties of Clerk of

Councils.

2.

This allowance will in a measure

compensate the Assistant Colonial Secretary for not being

allowed in ordinary circumstances to act in higher appoint-

-ments.

Re

I have the honour to be,

sir,

Your most obedient,

humble servant,

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

LEWIS HARCOURT, M.F.,

Governor, &C..
