The requirements stated in the former Instructions should be carefully observed.
GENERAL REMARKS.
(1) Examine and correct (where necessary) every
item in every card and schedule.
(2) check each item, where examined, by an
independent person.
(3) Carefully first study, and get familiar with, the different parts of the Instructions of 1/1/09 in the light of the preceding remarks. (4) The sterling amounts of contributions and pensions (prospective and actual) and the sum of the contributions paid to the valuation, should be converted into $ at the rate of exchange which may be finally settled by the Government for the purpose of this valuation; and that rate of exchange should be reported to me.

12. My assistant, Mr. Lutt, is forwarding a memorandum
upon the subject of the corrections which he himself has made on the cards and schedules. Hi corrections should be checked; and where card or schedule gets over browded and confused with alterae tions and additions, a fresh ( and checked) card or schedule should be prepared and sent to me to- gether with the old card or schedule for which it is substituted (with a reference thereon)
