Sir,
With reference to the reply sent from this Office on
the 7th instant to your letter of the 28th ultimo, No. 32262/40 concerning the maintenance of Postal Agencies in China, I am directed to send to you herewith, for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, a copy of the
reply which has been received to the letter addressed on the
7th instant to the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury with
regard to the Post Office at Weihaiwei.
The Postmaster General will be obliged if
Mr. Secretary Harcourt will be so good as to cause the
requisite instructions to be given to the Government of
Hong Kong and to the Commissioner of Wei-hai-wei.
