18th March, 1910.
Sir,
I beg leave to acknowledge the receipt of
Mr. Fiddes's letter of the 14th instant, intimating that
the cost of supplying the number of copies of the
Annual Reports of the Colony of Hong Kong required by
this Department would be approximately £8 sterling,
exclusive of the expense of carriage to London.
I have to acquaint you, for the information
of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, that on the
basis of the last three Annual Reports of this Colony,
the cost of production would be only about £6.10.0 per
annum if ordered through this Department. Unless there- fore the Report to which the Governor's estimate refers is considerably longer than those of the previous three years, it will be preferable to print the copies through the medium of the Stationery Office.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
9 Barten

Controller.
The Under Secretary of State,
COLONIAL OFFICE.
