Rag 24 NOV 10 Sir,

Foreign Office, November 14, 1910. WITH reference to your letter of the 24th ultimo, I am directed by Secretary Sir Edward Grey to transmit to you the accompanying copy of a note from M. van der Goes, the Netherlands chargé d'affaires in London, enquiring whether the 30th May, 1911, would suit His Majesty's Government as the date for the opening of the Opium Conference at The Hague.

Sir E. Grey proposes, subject to the concurrence of the Secretary of State for India, to inform van der Goes of the note addressed to the United States Ambassador on the 3rd November, copy of which is enclosed herewith for convenience of reference, and to state that until the reply to that communication has been received it would be premature to answer the enquiry made by the Netherlands Government.

I am, &c.

LOUIS MALLET.
