FOREIGN

Rrat 16 NOV 10,

FOREIGN OFFICE,

November 15th, 1910.

With reference to your letter of the 12th instant

respecting the forthcoming visit of the German Crown

Prince to Hong Kong, I am directed by Secretary Sir E.

Grey to inform you that he concurs in Mr. Harcourt's

proposal to instruct the Governor of Ceylon to ascer-

tain the wishes of His Imperial Highness in regard to

the invitation of the Governor of Hong Kong and to

communicate them direct to Sir F. Lugard.

I am to add that Sir E. Grey has already inquired

of the German Ambassador whether the Crown Prince and

his suite intend to live on shore during their stay at

Singapore. In view, however, of the fact that His

Excellency may not have been able to communicate with

the Crown Prince, who had already left Genoa, Sir E.

Grey thinks it would be well if the Governor of Ceylon

were instructed to consult with His Imperial Highness

The Under Secretary of State,

Colonial Office.
