Sir: -

In view of the rapidly growing production of Sugar in

Formosa, owing to the help given by the Japanese Government,

it is more than likely that imports of Formosan Sugar into Hong

Kong will be attempted on a rather large scale ere long. I

would, therefore, esteen it a favour, if you would let me

know, whether in your opinion the terms of the Brussels

Convention would allow such imports.

Apologising for the trouble I am giving you and

thanking you in anticipation.

I am &c.,

(Signed) Czarnikow and Company.

Sir Edward Grey, Bart.,

M.P.
