I have carefully considered your despatch No.208 of

the 10th of June (19242/10) enclosing correspondence with

the Colonial Office and the

Governor of Mongkong, res-

pecting the boundaries of the territories leased to the

Colony under the Convention of June 9, 1898, and reques-

ting my observations on the proposals therein contained.

I take it that my opinion is not required in regard to

the concrete proposals contained in the last two paragraphs

of Lord Crewe's letter, viz. that the Chinese Government

be invited to appoint a Commissioner to verify the Nor-

thern Roundary and the point where the Eastern Boundary

cute the shore of Virs Bay and to accept the modification

of the Western Boundary adopted by His Majesty's Govern-

ment in 1900 and a slight modification in the Southern

Boundary; and further that the Chinese Government be in-

Sir Edward Gray, Bart., X.P.

etc.

etc.

etc.
