I have carefully considered your despatch No.208 of
the 10th of June (19242/10) enclosing correspondence with
the Colonial Office and the
Governor of Mongkong, res-
pecting the boundaries of the territories leased to the
Colony under the Convention of June 9, 1898, and reques-
ting my observations on the proposals therein contained.
I take it that my opinion is not required in regard to
the concrete proposals contained in the last two paragraphs
of Lord Crewe's letter, viz. that the Chinese Government
be invited to appoint a Commissioner to verify the Nor-
thern Roundary and the point where the Eastern Boundary
cute the shore of Virs Bay and to accept the modification
of the Western Boundary adopted by His Majesty's Govern-
ment in 1900 and a slight modification in the Southern
Boundary; and further that the Chinese Government be in-
