THE Under-Secretary of State for India presents his compliments to the Under- Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, and, by direction of Viscount Morley, forwards herewith, for the information of the Secretary of State, copy of a telegram to the Viceroy, dated the 10th August, relative to the Burmah-Chinese frontier.

India Office, August 10, 1910. BURMAH-CHINA frontier (see your telegram dated the 25th July). Dispatch of officer with escort of police is agreed to on the understanding that his duty will be, not to eject Chinese in the event of any being found, but to make enquiries and to deliver Sanad to Sawbwa. Further details are requested as to the scale of the expedition and as to measures for formally asserting British supremacy which you contemplate. It is not considered necessary at present to make reference to Chinese Government.
