Foreign Office, June 10, 1910. I AM directed by Secretary Sir Edward Grey to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 27th ultimo, stating that the representatives of the British, German, French, and American groups signed an agreement at Paris on the 24th ultimo for the equal division of finance and material in the IIukuang loan and for an equal division of engineering sections on the Szechuan Railway and its extensions, the whole of the Hankow-Canton line being reserved for an engineer of British nationality.

I am to thank you for the copies of the agreements and other documents which accompanied your letter, and at the same time to express to you the satisfaction of the Secretary of State at the arrangement which has been at length arrived at.
