Foreign Office, May 23, 1910. GOVERNMENT of India telegraph that they have received representations from Indian exporters of opium against "alleged additional taxation of 300 dollars per chest on Indian opinu in Kwangtung," and that "persistent rumours about the tax are depressing the price of opium at Calcutta.”
