Peking, December 25, 1909. I WAS informed yesterday by the Director-General of Railways that the Govern- ment were now practically unanimous in their desire to take up thie Chinchow-Aiguu railway project seriously. There had been hitherto contradictory counsels on this subject, and the Government had therefore found it hard to arrive at a definite decision. These differences of opinion, however, his Excellency told me, had now been almost entirely removed,
