*I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt
of your despatch of the 2nd. instant, stating that jou
had received a communication from His Excellency the
Governor of "ongkong, with reference to the murder and
robbery of two Indian police constables in the new torrit-
ories of the Colony of Hongkong. Liang Tou, one of the men
concerned in the outrage, had been arrested by the Hsin
An Magistrate, and His Excellency desired you to be rood
enough to apply to me for the extradition of this man to
Hongkong for trial.
I have just received a report from the "sin An
Magistrate, from which it appears that Liang Tou has boun
summoned by the Magistrate, and has stated that he is a
