Peking, December 30, 1909. WITH reference to my despatch No. 477 of the 21st instant, I have the honour to report that, according to information received by His Majesty's consul at Nanking from Messrs. Sassoon's at Shanghae, the manager of the Ho Chun Hong at Nanking has been released on signing an undertaking to agree to the confiscation of his opium and not to reopen his shop.
The Wai-wu Pu informed me of the man's release at an interview on the 24th instant.
