With reference to your letter of the 10th
January last, 36836/1909, relative to the proposed

transfer to the Admiralty of a portion of the Arsenal
Yard, Hong Kong, I am commanded by the Army Council to
acquaint you for the information of the Earl of Crewe,
that in this particular case they are prepared to agree
to the transfer of the land in question through the
medium of the Colonial Goverment on the conditions
laid down in Sir F. Lugard's despatch No.179 of 23rd
June 1909, without prejudice, however, to their views
on the general question as expressed in War Office
letter of 9th November 1909, Hong Kong 8/69 (L.B.).
The General Officer Commanding the Troops will be
informed accordingly and instructed to communicate with
the Governor with a view to carrying out the
transfer.
