TREASURY CHAMBERS,

20 August 1910.

Sir,

I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury to state, for the information of the Earl of Crewe, that They have received from the Chartered Bank of India, Australia and China two letters (copies of which are enclosed herewith), and My Lords have caused the Bank to be informed that They have no objection to the proposed reallocation of the Bank's authorised note issue between the several Branches in the East and that They agree that the increased limit proposed for the note issue at Hong Kong will not affect the power of the Bank to issue notes in excess of the authorised limit on the special conditions prescribed by the Supplemental Charter of the 1st September 1902.

Should the Earl of Crewe see no objection, I am to request that he will cause the necessary instructions

to be conveyed to the Colonial authorities.

The Under Secretary of State,

Colonial Office.

I am,

Sir,

Your obedient Servant,

Manay
