Government intend to run their own ferry service in
355
connection with the railway. As to this we have no
information but would point out that such a special servios
of ferry boats would in all probability be run at a las8.
We have gone carefully into the two sohemes
for a passenger station on the reclamation put forward by
the Chief Resident Engineer and agree with H.B. the Governor
that scheme 3 is preferable to scheme 4.
We have made
several sketches to see if a satisfactory way can be
isolated found of eliminating the platform near the landing stage,
unduly
for we consider this a rather objectionable arrangement 83 *
separating the platforms of the stations from one another,

but oving to the difficulty of providing a shunting neck
for the goods yard otherwise than to the sontiward of
tuc passenger station as proposed, we have been unable to
evolve an altogether satisfactory arrangement.
While on
the whole we consider scheme No. 8 the more suitable of the
two, we think it would be wise to join up the platform
near the landing stage to those in the atation either by
extending the landing stage platform or by means of a cover så
way.
We also think that if possible matters should be so
arranged that a train leaving the landing stage platfor
should be able to run alongside wither of the main platforms
