in A.D. 1916.
(g). No prospect of promotion before reaching the
retiring age.
I therefore pray that I may be permitted
to draw the maximum salary of my present grade on the 1st. of
January next, should the Government bo unable to recognise
consistent good work in the three great branches of the Govern-
-ment Service by promotion to a higher grade of pay.
