I attach extrets from a memorandum on Assisted Emigration drean up in the spring of this year by Mr. Hutchison the First Assistant Registrar General now on leave in England. Kr. hatchison was the first officer in charge of this work and has an intimate knowledge of all mattera connected with assister emigration. I have nothing to add to the information contained in these extracts but some of the statements made in the Amerior "World" oall for comment.

The number of assisted emigrants who left the Colony in the first eleven months of this year was 21,444. Of these 3,468 were for the Dutch Indies, 16,530 for the atraits settle- menta and Federited Jalap States,and 1,446 for British Worth Borneo.
