I replied on the 26th. October stating that r
hoped to call on him on the 3rd. November and that if the
matters referred to could not be held in abgance until then, I
presumed he would decide them himself. I added that,
in case
it might be influencing him in delaying them, I would point out
that the suggestion to hold them over for discussion with ne
emanated from himself but I would be very pleased to dis-
-cuss then with him if they could stand over until the date I
had mentioned.
I called on the 3rd. November and, owing
to the objections he raised to the design sent from this
office and his assurance that certain expansion and contraction
which I feared under his daring design would not occur, I gave
way to him. In another small matter, a slight daèteration was
made to meet my objections.
