-work had been shipped on the S. S. *Glon-
-strate". Advice dated 18.2.10 received from
Crown Agents stating that 112 piecos had been
shipped on the S. S. "Glenroy".

Work on the Building practically ceased
at the end of October, 1909, and was not resumed until the 15th.
March, 1910, on which date the ground and first floor stanchi ons
as well as first floor joists were delivered on the site.
In these circumstances the Director of
Public Works was of opinion that it would only be fair to
allow the Contractor some compensation for this delay of 4Ť KAM
months and he has been authorized to inform him that his claim
will be considered on the completion of the contract.

I would point out that the 9" x 7" steel
Joists were for the first floor stenchions, 10" x 8* joita being
used for the ground floor stanchions. Had these latter boon
forwarded together with the framing for the first floor at an
earlier date, the work would not have been delayed to such an
