OFFURE*

This Company has recently commenced ship-

-ments of Cenent to Vancouver, British Columbia and it would

be of considerable advantage to us if our Cement were allowed to

enter Canada under the preferential duty accorded to all British

manufactures.

We are informed that this privilege is

already given to imports from the Straits Settlements and

Ceylon, and we presume that there will be no objection to Hong-

-kong being placed on the same footing.

We therefore beg to suggest that you will

be good enough to communicate with the Canadian Government with

a view to obtaining this preferential treatment for Hongkong

products sent to canada.

We have etc.,

(Sd.) Shewan, Tomes & Co.,

General Managers.
