Sir H. May has been generally considered here
ሆን first favourite for the Governorship of Maur. which
will be vacant about July next. He seems also to have
formed a good opinion of his chances in that connecion
himself.
We are reducing the salary to 50,000 rupees. But
Sir H. May has no doubt seen the Report of the R.Com.
and is aware of their recommendation on this bead.
The withdrawal of Sir 3.May from the candidates for
Maur. would undoubtedly render it much more difficult to
fill that Governorship in a really satisfactory way.
