selected in England who possesses the qualifications which

· are enfaced on the papers of particulars of the post.

As Mr. Kemp is in England I shall

be glad if you will cause him to be informed of his ap-

-pointment, and if you will instruct the Crown Agents to

adjust his salary accordingly.

I would further suggest that Kr.

Kemp should be consulted as to the qualifications of any

candidates for the two vacancies I have referred to, more

especially as to his successor in the office of Registrar,

since he is fully aware of the special conditions and

· qualifications peculiar to this Colony.
