sir,
Gobernment House
9th. December, 1910.
With reference to Lord Crewe' S
Confidential Despatch of the 11th. October, I have the
honour to inform you that I have found it impossible to
appoint an officer to act as Crown Solicitor on the 1st.
January next in the absence of Mr. J. H. Kemp. There were
only two officers in the Government Service qualified to
fill the post, namely, Mr. G. H. Wakeman, Land Officer,
who is at the present time acting as Registrar of
Supreme Court in addition to his substantive duties, and
Mr. P. Jacks, the Assistant Land Officer. Mr. Wakeman in-
-formed me that he did not wish to act as Crown Seliciter,
and I may mention here that he is also not a candidate for
the post of Registrar of the Supreme Court when vacated by
Mr. Kemp.
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
LEWIS HARCOURT, M.P.,
