In reply to paragraph 4 of Lord
Crowe's Despatch No. 295 of the 19th. of last October, I
have the homour to forward the enclosed copy of a minute
by the Principal Civil Medical Officer, dated the 2nd.
instant and to recommend that the Medical Examination in
Hongkong of officers who apply to retire on grounds of
111-health should be conducted by a Board consisting of the
Principal Civil Medical Officer and two other Government
Medical Offiœ rs nominated by the Governor. I request your
authority to amend the Pension Minute in this sense if you
approve my recommendation.
2.
No change in the existing method
of examination in England of officers to be retired on
Medical grounds, was contemplated in Sir Henry May's
