Many of the above Officers draw allowance for overtime for attendance with regard to Sunday Cargo permits.
During the absence of Mr. McIver there is also an additional Chinese temporary clerk. With the exception of Europeans there are three well paid Chinese Clerks. No great ability can be expected from 5th. and 6th. Grade Clerks considering amount of salary.
(1). Disposition of Clerks:
(a). General Office. There has evidently been some mis- -understanding regarding this department. Mr. Percebois states the correspondence office has four Chinese Clerks with the European Clerk", the Harbour Master states "There are only two clerks in the correspondence office". This misunderstanding seems to be a nominal one only and is due to clerks sitting in two rooms, which may be called "The Marine Court" and the
