With reference to my Despatch
No. 357 of the 21st. and to my Despatch No. 363 of the
24th. October, 1910, in which I have brought up to date
the statement of the legislation passed by this Government
to control the traffic in Opium, Morphine, Compounds of
Opium, Cocaine, and other deleterious drugs, both for local
use and export, I have the honour to point out that as far
as the export of Morphine, Compounds of Opium, and Cocaine
to ghina are concerred the legislative offorts of Hong-
-kong are of no practical effect because these drugs are
exported to Macao where, as far as I am aware, no
restrictions as to their re-export to China exist.
2.
During the current year 2,825 lbs
of Morphine and 2,600 ounces of Cocaine have been so
