residing in the Colony
into the house, who was duly sworn
in as a member of the well known Chinese Secret Society
called the Kak Ming Tong. Copy of the report made by the
informer is enclosed. As a result Sun Mei was banished on
the 28th. ultimo. He went to Singapore and I am gending
a copy of this Despatch to the Governor of the Straits
Settlements. It was not possible to banish Chung King-
-nam as he was born in the New Territories. The Executive
Council were divided in opinion as to whether there was
sufficient evidence to justify the banishment of Tsang
Kung-yuan, and further enquiries are being made concerning
him and concerning the Kak Ming Tong the existence of which
in this Colony seems to be wide-spread and to be by no
means skotched by the banishment of Sun Mei.
3.
I enclose copy of correspondence
with the Consul-General for the United States of America
concerning the banishment of Sun Hei, who appears to be an
American citizen.
Enclosure 2.
