and alterations to this Hospital are urgently needed,

especially now that Government has taken over the Army

55

female patients, numbers of whom are admitted. The accommo-

-dation is at present quite inadequate. I enclose plan of

this work.

Gr.3636

$14,000.

(1). Royal Square, Fencing in Gardens,

This proposed work has already received the

approval of Your Lordship in C. 0. Despatch No. 46 of

11th. February, 1910.

(j). Pier opposite Royal Square, $30,000.

The provision of additional landing accommodation in the

Central District of the City has become a necessity. The

existing wharf opposite Royal Square is very limited in

size and, being of timber, is in such a condition as to

1

render reconstruction necessary. It is proposed to erect

a pier of iron or ferro-concrete, of about the same

dimensions as Blake Pier, to take its place. Plans will be

forwarded when ready.

(k). Reclamation opposite Kowloon Marine

Lots 29 to 31, Yaumati. $12,500.

This work is necessary

to fill in a gap in the reclamation on the Kowloon side.

It is situated within the Harbour of Refuge and, if left

in its present state, would become a very insanitary area.
