With reference to your letter No.1016 of the 13th of last
July, I am directed to transmit the enclosed extracts from a letter
addressed by Mr. Eves to the Consulting Engineers on the subject of
rolling stock together with a complete set of drawings. I under-
stand that you are now in complete agreement with Mr. Eves in this
matter and I shall be glad to have an assurance from you to that
effect.
I am also to inquire whether you agree:-

that each section of the railway should supply engines to do the hauling over their own sec- tion. The engines to be changed at the fron- tier:

that the carriage stock for through traffic should run right through so that passengers would not have to change carriages at the frontier and that aach section would supply through carriage stock in proportion to the mileage of each section which happens to be almost exactly one for the British section and four for Chinese section: The exact mileage being 21 and 881.
