With reference to the last para-

-graph of Sir F. D. Lugard's Despatch No. 100 of the

23rd. of last March, I have the honour to report that

during Mr. Melbourne's absence on half-pay leave an

was made arrangement/similar to that approved during Mr. J. W. Lee-

-Jones' leave, viz.:- that Mr. Woodcock and Mr. Lee-Jones

should share in the discharge of Mr. Melbourne's duties,

Mr. Woodcock giving half of his time to the Supreme Court.

The Registrar of the Supreme

Court reports that Mr. Lee-Jones has had quite as much

extra work as Mr. Melbourne had and that the Official

Administrator's work, practically all of which is done by

Mr. Lee-Jones could not be done better or kept more up to

date. The present arrangement, under which the Magistrate's

Clerk gives half a day to the Registry of the Supreme

Court and the Deputy Registrar and Appraiser has extra
