Borough of Hornsby, (late Hornsey District Council)

London N., England.

Hornsey District Council,

Southwood Lane, Highgate N.,

London, England,

August 8th., 1901.

Testimonial to Mr. F. B. Drake, A.M.I.C.E., on the

occasions of his leaving the service of the Hornsey District

Council to take up an appointment as Town Engineer to the How-

-bray Municipal Council, Cape Town, South Africa.

I have pleasure in stating that I have known Mr. Drake

for upwards of eight years, During my term of office as Borough

Engineer and Surveyor of Richmond, Surrey, he acted as Chief

Assistant in my Department.

More recently he has been employed under me in this

district, acting as Resident Engineer upon some important works

of Storm Water Sewerage, involving the construction of culverts

ranging from 4 ft. to 6 ft. in diameter, This latter position he

has occupied for six months, leaving to take up the above

mentioned appointment. I have pleasure in testifying to the

energy and sosuracy which Mr. Drake evinces in carrying out the

work entrusted to him. He is a careful and expeditious draughta-

-man, and has a thorough knowledge of surveying, levelling,

specification, and quantity work, and has had exceptional

practical experience in the carrying out of works of buildings,

drainage, and road eesstruction.

In addition to his professional qualifications he

has a courteous and obliging manner, showing at all times a

desire to execute his duties faithfully and well, and I have, therefore, every confidence in recommending him for the position

of Engineer and Surveyor to a Local Authority.

Yours faithfully,

(sd.) M. J. Lovegrove, K.I.C.E.,

Engineer and Surveyor.
