I have the honour to forward for
Your Lordship's consideration the enclosed copy of ■
letver from the Registrar-General, dated the 30th. ultimo,
and to recommend that the triangular area shown on the
enclosed plan be sold to the Chinese Public Dispensaries
Committee without auction for $1,800 as a site on which to
erect a building in which to house the coolies attached to
the Central Dispensary, the dead vans, and the ambulance. I
further recommend that the annual Crown Rent be fixed at
$700 per acre.

The area of the lot as shown on
the plan which has been prepared by the Director of Public
Works is 554 square feet. The Crow Rent has been fixed at
the rate usually imposed in this district but the premium
has been reduced from $2,770 which is at the rate of $5
per square foot recently paid at auction in this vicinity
