I have examined the accompanying Ordinonce, entitled

An Ordinance further to amend the Magistrates Ordinance, 1890

and I am of opinion that the Ordinance is one which is not contrary to

the Governor's Instructions

Section 4 of this Ordinance provides that where an

accused has been committed for trial between the tenth and eighteen

-th days of any month inclusive he shall be tried at the Criminal

Sessions commencing on the eighteenth day of the month following.

The object of the measure is to give the Attorney General and the

Crown Solicitor time to prepare the cases for the Sessions.

Section 5 of this Ordinance empowers the Magistrate to

order youths convicted in the cases only of simple larceny, assault

Occasioning actual bodily harm and indecent assault to be whipped
