I have the honour to forward for
Your Lordship's consideration the enclosed copy of a letter
from Mr

A. E. Davey, R.N.R., Second Boarding Officer in
the Harbour Master's Department, requesting that he may be
allowed to draw the maximum salary of his post, viz.:m
£285 as from the 17th. of next August, when he will have
completed 3 years' service in the Department.

I consider that Mr. Davey haS
advanced strong reasons in support of his request and as
the Harbour Master reports to me that "Mr. Davey has per-
-formed his duties with zeal and conspicuous ability",

recommend that his application should be granted.
